One of the best solutions to getting your carpets cleaned is to call for a professional carpet cleaning service to help you clean and remove the stains from your carpet. Other than that, you can also try using carpet cleaning products or solutions that are available on the market which is a cheaper alternative. In reality, if your carpet is just mildly stained, and the stain is fairly new, you can use homemade remedies to get rid of those stains. Read my guide below on some of the common household items that can be used to get rid of stains on your carpet.
First we take a look at using vinegar solution to get rid of carpet stains. What you need to do is add white vinegar and water in equal parts inside a spray bottle. Next, spray the solution on the affected area until it is saturated. Wait for the solution to dry for 10 minutes before usng a clean sponge to dab on it. Gently blot the area so as not to push more dirt into the carpet. Next, rinse the area with warm water. After rinsing, brush the pile into its original direction. Dry the carpet by adjusting pieces of white paper towels on top of the wet area. Place a book or heavy objects on top of the pile to help the towels absorb the water better.
Besides vinegar, you can also use an alkaline ammonia solution to help you get rid of the stains. Dilute one teaspoon of household ammonia in one cup of water. Be careful not to wet the carpet's backing. Add only a little of the solution at a time slowly. As with the previous method with vinegar, blot the area with the solution, rinse with water, and then dry using clean paper towels.
Whatever the method of cleaning you choose to remove carpet stains, it is always important to clean and maintain your carpet after that by using a carpet steam cleaner. Steam cleaning is beneficial to your carpet as it rinse the carpet with warm water and the machine will suck all the dirt in for effective cleaning. Personally, I recommend the Bissell ProHeat 2x. It is one of the best carpet cleaners today from Bissell. Before you buy any carpet cleaners it is always good to read carpet cleaner reviews to choose the one that suits your requirements and needs.
